What to
wear
Ideally a crop, or tank top or close-fitting shirt that allows you (and me) to see your movements; a leotard is okay too. On the bottom, leggings with a hip scarf or a loose skirt. Both leggings and skirt are recommended if you are to stretch properly. Barefoot or flexible-soled dance shoes. Dress for comfort and freedom of movement, and feel free to decorate yourself if it helps get you in the mood to dance. If you do not have a coin belt, bring a large scarf to wrap around your hips. No baggy t-shirts or sweatshirts, I need to see what you are doing!
Please
Note

All Classes include warm-up, isolations, combinations, layering of steps. All performance is optional. Please check with your doctor if you have any medical or structural problems which could be aggravated by moderate exercise.

Cane and Sword Dance
with Khadija

New Dates to Follow

The Traditional Egyptian Raqs Aseyya or cane dance, is a playful parody of the men's martial art called 'Tahtib'. Dance with a sword is not an Egyptian tradition, but can be a dramatic addition to your dance.
Canes (aseyya) and swords (seif) can be ordered ahead of time.
